Agritech (our partner) has designed, in collaboration with a Taiwanese opto-electronic manufacturer, an integrated solar power supply appliance, which can store and provide electricity to isolated communities or companies and/or backup power during outages in the more urbanized areas, which have access to the grid. Combined with low powered LED lights, the portable and fixed modular units present a viable solution to some of Afghanistan’s energy problems.

The first production will leave the factory in Suzhou near Shanghai by the end of August 2009. The low systems have a capacity of 150 to 3000 Watts and are expected to dramatically increase the accessibility and reduce the cost of electricity for rural families, schools, medical centres and cyber cafes, among other beneficiaries. It is low cost systems.
